Whole30 Fried Cauliflower Rice
Easy whole30 compliant and paleo fried rice recipe. A new twist with cauliflower rice, veggies, and homemade asian sauce. Ready in 20 minutes. Make ahead and freeze! A healthy and fun family dinner.
This bowl has to be heaven. Only 10 minutes to dish this baby up for your fam (or just you, which means: LEFTOVERS!!!). It’s a healthy way to use up those veggies in your crisper. Also, I was really surprised at how filling and satisfying this dish is; no hungry people here.
I had kinda slim pickings in the fridge today when I went to start breakfast, and I didn’t want to drive into town. So, this bowl is basically what I came up with between the garden and the fridge.
I’d say, I’m pretty happy with the way things turned out! Sometimes fridge scrambling demands creativity and results in something magnificent.
I had lots of people ask me where they could buy this when I showed a teaser of the recipe today. Unfortunately, you cannot pick this up at Trader Joes or Whole Foods, but you can make it at home! Although I really wish I could just walk into TJ’s and pick this up out of the freezer section.
However, you CAN buy pre-made cauliflower rice! Which saves even more time. If you want to make it at home though, simply use your food processor to mince it up really fine, like rice. Pure magic.
Pro tip: You can make this recipe ahead of time and freeze it. I would just chop up the veggies, make cauliflower rice, put it all in a storage container and freeze. Then when it’s time to eat just pull it out of the freezer, cook it up, add in eggs and top with sauce and green onions. Now that’s what I’m talking about.
- 16 oz cauliflower rice
- 1 large carrot chopped
- 1 cup peas fresh or frozen (omit for whole30)
- 1/2 small onion chopped
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil for cooking
- 2 large eggs beaten
- 1/4 cup coconut aminos
- 3 tablespoons sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons date syrup or maple syrup.
- 1 tablespoon arrowroot flour
- Frank's Hot sauce to personal taste

So what is Frank’s Hot Sauce and where do you get it?
Hi Martha, it’s a whole30 compliant hot sauce, you can get it on amazon- http://amzn.to/2FJ90DD or a grocery store.
I am about to begin Whole30 on Monday. I did not think that date/maple syrup is permitted. Can you suggest an alternative?
Hi Flo, you can omit it if you do not want the date sweetener- all it is is blended dates and water, I read the whole30 forums and it was approved…
I dont usually comment…but it felt warranted. My husband was on an elimination diet at the beginning of the year. It was hard on our family because we love all the foods he couldnt eat (missed dairy the most!!). This recipe was the best thing we ate that whole 8 weeks. To the point we made it several times and had leftovers. And now here I am, coming back to it…this time with no dietary restrictions to consider. This will be dinner tomorrow night. Thank you for such a tasty recipe. We havent had chinese food since 2017 bc this legitimately fills that craving. Thank you so much!!
The only change we made was instead of hot sauce, we used a compliant sweet chili sauce (compliant for the elimination diet–not whole 30) so so delicious!
Thank you Amanda for such a sweet review! 🙂
I’ve made this recipe twice now and my only complaint/adjustment is it’s too much liquid, the flour does a nice job of reducing it but I still find my rice a bit runny
Hiya, this looks great and can’t wait to try the recipe, but just a warning that peas aren’t Whole30 compliant. They fall under legumes.
Can’t wait to try it with some other veggies though!
Hi Ash, yes- thanks! There was a note that says leave out for whole30 🙂 It says it right next the ingredients. Hope that helps. Enjoy!
Although dates themselves are Whole30 compliant, making them into a sweetener (date paste) is technically against the rules. Any sweetener, natural or artificial, is a no-no. This recipe is delish and this comment is not an attack against it! Just wanted to make this clear for any Whole30-ers out there so everyone can stay on track. Leaving out the date paste in addition to the peas is…easy peasy 😉
Hi–I hate to be a downer, but the date syrup is not WHOLE30 compliant by any stretch. You could chop up your own dates but cannot use a syrup for this. I’m bummed after seeing that in there. I think you need something to balance the sauce, not sure what.
Hi Tammy, I have linked to my own using only water and dates. 🙂
