Easy Paleo Coconut Flour Chocolate Donuts

Paleo coconut flour brownie doughnuts! These cake like doughnuts are topped with a beautiful pink frosting made from beets! Easy to make recipe. Can be made ahead of time and frozen! 

You all wanted it! Pink, chocolate, frosting, sweetness, sprinkles, brownies, cake, doughnuts. I decided to wrap all of this into these bright little sweet packages. As promised, here come all the Valentine’s Day recipes that will dazzle your loved ones with health and beauty! Just the way I like it.

This recipe is just about as pink as it gets. I am not a pink girl. But when it comes to doughnuts it’s kinda fun 😉 Plus, the fact that beets make a lovely color tone for the frosting- I’m in!

Find out what type of natural food coloring I used in this recipe. This natural beet based food coloring is perfect for making your baked goods look seriously legit!

I’m pretty sure Valentine’s Day is just a pretty excuse to bake all the doughnuts you could ever possibly want! How incredible is that??😉 These intense chocolate brownies are doughnuts in disguise. Who would guess that under all that sugary pink stuff is the worlds other favorite sweet treat? Well… um, no complaints here.

This recipe is easily made with my coconut flour brownie recipe.

How fun is it to frost things!? It has to be right up there with molding butter cubes with you dinner knife, dipping your finger in the sugar bowl, or eating breakfast in bed.😊

You can choose to dip these doughnuts in the frosting or drizzle it on with a spoon, which I have found to be a more effective method. I used a spoon to drizzle the frosting on the doughnuts, so that any dark chocolate brownie crumbs wouldn’t contaminate the bright pink frosting!

Finally, in closing, you have two options: one is to frost these doughnuts with my paleo maple frosting. And the second is to go full out glazy doughnut style and dig into that powdered sugar confectioners glaze! It’s totally up to you. Both glazes work great!

To make these doughnuts paleo, use this recipe for vegan maple frosting and follow the instructions for the recipe to make it a glaze consistency.

*Note: To make this paleo glaze the right consistency, just water it down with hot water or steamed almond milk. Works like a charm.

Ingredients

  • 1 batch paleo coconut flour brownies
  • 2 batches Maple Frosting To make this maple frosting recipe into a glaze, just water it down with warm water or almond milk. Some people prefer their glaze to be thicker or thiner, so I am leaving that up to you. You can also make a regular confectioners glaze for the donuts- see instructions on how to make it in the recipe notes.
  • natural sprinkles
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil Melted. For greasing the donut pan.
  • natural food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Generously grease a donut pan with the melted coconut oil.
  2. Prepare the paleo brownie mix.
  3. Fill the donut pan with brownie batter. Cook on 350F for about 15 minutes (or until cooked).
  4. Prepare the maple frosting. To make this maple frosting recipe into a glaze, just water it down with a few tablespoons warm water or almond milk. Some people prefer their glaze to be thicker or thiner, so I am leaving that up to you. Then add the natural food coloring until it reaches your desired color tone. You can also make a regular confectioners glaze for the donuts by mixing 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup almond milk, and natural food coloring.
  5. Once the donuts have cooled, pour the glaze over them and then top with sprinkles.

Recipe Notes

To make confectioners glaze, just combine 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup almond milk, and natural food coloring until it reaches desired color tone.
