I decided to make some date sauce and see if my crazy idea would turn out edible or not… turns out, it works like a charm!

And tastes even better.

This recipe is incredibly easy, like so easy you won’t believe! Which is perfect, because easy recipes are my friend.

how to make date syrup

Date sauce requires literally close to zero effort! So, it’s well worth it- in my opinion. Using soft medjool dates is the best way to make this sauce.

Simply incorporate two ingredients: water and dates.

Then blend, blend, blend in a food processor (or high powered blender) until ultra creamy and smooth!

You might have to periodically scrap the sides of the food processor during the blending process to result in perfect creamy caramely texture.

*Pro tip: Puree until it’s so silky smooth that you could dive into it- if the jar was a pool and the date sauce filled it. Make it swim worthy, k? 😉

I took a little vacation from work this week.

The little breather was exceptional; super rejuvenating!

I spent time with friends, climbing rocks, soaking in sunshine, and sleeping in.

Something about learning to rest seems to be a big part of my journey.

So, take the weekend rest, rejuvenate, and do things you love. Cook, bake, make this date sauce, and put it on something yummy!

Enjoy,

~Kaylie

I like it that you DON’T elaborate too much. How many times have I heard myself say, just give me the damn recipe already.’? Now you are very good at what you do and I’m gonna get some dates and do it.

Hello Kaylie, I love this recipe. My question is what is a serving and how many calories are in a serving? 700 calories is for the entire amount, correct? Thank you, Tricia

I got some medjool dates from Sam’s Club. They have pits in them. Do I remove those before trying the recipe or do they blend up smooth in the recipe?

This looks terrific, as do all your recipes and the amazing photography that accompanies each one, however, 145 grams of sugar seems a bit insane. I assume we would only need a minute serving of this syrup.

I found your site when looking for a paleo pecan pie for Thanksgiving. I found a great recipe that uses 1/3 cup dates with 5 T maple syrup … do you think this could sub in the recipe, or should I not worry about 5 T of maple syrup? (FYI, I’m currently on Whole 30, Round 1, Day 28 … worried about reintroduction but wanting something special on Thanksgiving). Thank you!

I tried it this morning–it didn’t blend up as smoothly as yours seems to be. I think I would try the blender next time, because in the food processor, the water made it a bit of a mess. I spread it on banana/egg pancakes and had a great Whole30 breakfast!

Hey! Does this sauce taste grainy? It’s fine if it does; I’m just trying a recipe with this and need to know if the texture will compliment the dessert.

Hi Bailey, this recipe doesn’t turn out grainy, but I suppose it could if you don’t blend it enough or have a low powered processor to blend it. Hope that helps. Enjoy whatever you end up baking!
